A true story: I am now retired after 31 years as a bedside nurse but remember my very first day of clinicals like it was yesterday. After not sleeping the night before and not wanting to be late I arrived an hour early for clinicals. After the clinical I get in my car and turn the ignition and nothing, it's at this point I remember that as I was getting out of the car there was a chiming noise I'd never heard before but, being so nervous, I had decided to "worry about it later". Well, now was later and I had no idea why the car wouldn't start so I called my dad (this was in 1988 before cell phones) after walking a block away to the nearest pay phone after I cry telling him my problem he says "did you leave the lights on?". My heart sank, of course, how stupid of me!! I was so embarrassed and didn't want my nursing school instructor to see how stupid I was so I waited for over 2 hours for all of my classmates and my instructor to leave before I called a tow truck for a jump!😂😂. Oh my, we really are are own worst enemies!! Don't ever let fear or anxiety stop you!!! Remember, life is funny and todays stressful moment will be tomorrow's laugh!
